Access Statement
Introduction
At Scales Farm we aim to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for Guests to enjoy their stay and to cater for all their needs. We will do our best to satisfy the expectation of our guests. If our guests have any particular requirements that we can help with, please let us know. Scales Farm was originally a working farm and the building dates back to 17th Century and although modernised it still retains many of its original features.

Arrival
We ask all guests to arrive between 5-7pm, but if they wish to arrive earlier then let us know so that we can be here to greet you.
We have our own private car park.
The X4/X5 Buses stop on the A66 at the end of horseshoe road that leads to Scales Farm.
Penrith is our nearest rail station and we can arrange for transport if given sufficient notice.
We are always happy to assist guests with their luggage.
Main Entrance
The main entrance can be reached either up a flight of three stone stairs 220mm high 290mm deep 1300mm wide or from the Private car park, slight slope and level path.
One step 110mm high into porch.
The front door is usually locked and a doorbell is available.
The front door width is approx 810mm in width.
Reception/Guest Lounge
The inner porch door into walkway in lounge is 820mm wide
One step into reception/lounge area is 155mm high
Reception consists of desk and chair.
The lounge has flat screen colour TV with Video and DVD player.
There is a settee and two armchairs
Furniture can be moved to accommodate wheelchairs.
We have wood burning stove which is lit during winter months.
There is always a supply of books and magazines.
Door from lounge to Dining Room is down a step 115mm high, with a handrail on the left, followed by slight slope the doorway is 715mm approx wide.
Dining Room
Is reached through guest entrance door 760mm wide.
Breakfast is served in the Dining Room
Furniture is flexible but we normally seat guests in two's or four's
Menu is issued on arrival or is in room for second and subsequent day's breakfasts.
We do our best to cater for all tastes and needs, but please let us know if you have any particular requirements.
Public Areas
All the floor areas on stairs, hallways and bedrooms are carpeted.
There is one Separate WC situated outside opposite Guest Entrance.
There is also a Bicycle storage lock up opposite guest entrance.
Car Park
There is a tarmac ramp into car park, which is slightly sloping and is laid with slate chippings.
The parking for the disabled room is laid which paving blocks.
The car park can accommodate up to 8 cars.
There is a flat laid path to all three downstairs bedroom doors and the guest entrance.
Restaurants
We are happy to advise on local restaurants to suit all tastes and requirements, and do ask that guests advise on their experiences so that other guests may benefit. We are always happy to make bookings for guests if required.
Laundry
We cannot offer laundry facilities, but are we are able to offer drying facilities for wet clothing and provide an iron if required.
Leisure Facilities and Places to Visit
A fairly comprehensive collection of leaflets are freely available and are happy to advise on other facilities etc in the area.
Bedrooms:
We have a total of six bedrooms, three on the ground floor and three on the first floor.
All rooms have central heating radiators with temperature control valves.
All rooms are carpeted.
Complementary Tea/Coffee making facilities are provided.
All rooms have small fridges.
Televisons are digital with Freeview
Cot can be provided in Rooms 3,4,5 and 6.
Ground Floor Bedrooms:
The entrances to all these rooms is from the car park.
Room 1
The entrance is up two steps the first 170mm high, the second 90mm high through two inward opening doors with widths of 735mm.
One King size bed.
The bed is approximately 550 in height.
At least 600mm access between bed and furniture.
Furniture can be moved on request.
Two upholstered chairs are provided.
The en-suite Bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and WC, door width 660mm.
Colour TV with remote control and Freeview.
Dogs are allowed into this room.
Room 2
The entrance is up two steps the first 170mm high, the second 90mm high through two doors the first is an outward opening stable door and the second inward opening with widths of 870mm and 735mm respectively. There is a further step into the room of 130mm.
One double bed.
The bed is approximately 560mm in height.
At least 600mm access between bed and furniture.
Furniture can be moved on request.
Two upholstered chairs are provided.
The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and quadrant shower with sliding doors.
Colour TV with remote control and Freeview.
Dogs are allowed into this room.
Room 3
This room is classified as a mobility room.
The entrance up a slope to an outward opening stable door 900mm wide followed by a further inward opening door of 900mm.
Two single beds that can be made into double; there is also the possibility of an extra single bed or bunks.
The bed/s are approximately 510mm in height.
At least 600mm access between bed and furniture.
Furniture can be moved on request.
Two cane armchairs chairs are provided.
The en-suite shower room has WC, basin, walk in shower with curtain, grab handles and shower seat.
Colour tv/dvd with remote control and Freeview.
Dogs are allowed into this room.
There is direct wheel chair access to Dining Room and Guest Lounge, through two doors from the bedroom, width 870mm.
Guest Entrance
This entrance gives access to first floor bedrooms, dining room and guest lounge. There is one step 160mm through inward opening door 740mm into a small hallway, with door to dining room and stairs to first floor.
First Floor Bedrooms:
The first floor bedrooms are reached either through the guest entrance width 740mm or from Reception (Guest lounge).
There are 12 stairs to a landing leading to all three rooms.
The stairs are 200mm high, 240mm deep and 750-800mm wide.
The 10th and 11th steps are winders to the right. There is a banister on the right hand side.
Door widths are 740mm.
Room 4
King size four-poster bed and bunks (an additional single bed can be also be accommodated in this room).
The height of the bed is approximately 550mm, the bunks are mm

Furniture can be moved on request.
A sofa and tub chair are provided.
The en suite bathroom has bath with power shower over and basin.
The en-suite toilet has WC and basin.

Room 5
One double wooden framed bed with end - (a single can also be accommodated in this room).
The height of the bed is approximately 510mm.
At least 600mm access between bed and furniture.
Furniture can be moved on request.
Two upholstered chairs are provided.
The en-suite shower room WC, basin and power shower with curtain.
Colour TV with remote control and Freeview.
Room 6
Two single beds that can be made into double; there is also the possibility of an extra single bed
The height of the beds is approximately 510mm.
At least 600mm access between bed and furniture.
Furniture can be moved on request.
Two tub chairs and small solid wooden table.
The en-suite shower room has WC, basin and shower with curtain.
Colour TV with remote control and Freeview.
