Walking

Scales Farm is very fortunate to be located on the southern slopes of Blencathra one of the most loved mountains in the Lake District, famous for Sharp Edge an exhilarating route to its summit. From Scales Farm it is possible to walk to all of the southern ridges Scales, Doddick, Halls and Blease. Blencathra provides walks from easy and safe  (Blease and Scales) to hard and exposed (Halls and Sharp edge).

Scales Farm is also opposite Clough Head which is the most Northern mountain of the Helvellyn Range stretching all the way from Clough Head in the North to  Rydal in the South a superb ridge walk that takes in Great Dodd, Raise and Helvellyn and remains stubbornly above 2000′ for many miles.
